Day 85-87 BIG… Jetty and whales

Busselton has a jetty. It’s a long jetty. 1836 metres to be precise. That’s a long jetty. I think that’s all there is to Busselton. A jetty. But it is a good jetty. I like jetties and Busselton has a long one.

Apparently the length of the Busselton Jetty also makes it very difficult to navigate without getting lost. Why else would the little tourist train, which runs visitors out to the under water observatory at the end, have a Navman GPS unit firmly attached to the windscreen? ‘No not left, and not right, I said straight ahead!’, is what I didn’t have to shout in order to get out to the end of the Busselton Jetty. Day 80-83 Fremantle

We did rush down the WA coast a little. We could have lingered longer at quite a few places, but we had mail to collect, and as it included Greg’s Fremantle Half Marathon package we needed it before the weekend. So we arrived Friday afternoon after a really easy drive across Perth. It was strange being in Perth in our own car, having only ever flown there previously. Day 82 – The Freo Half

The Fremantle half marathon is pretty much the only reason we decided to spend four nights in Fremantle. You see I am planning another attempt at the Six Foot Track, a 45 km ultra marathon from Katoomba to Jenolan caves in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. I had to pull out of the event in March this year because I got sick just weeks beforehand and didn’t recover in time to run. However, in order to enter the race again I need to qualify and to qualify I need to run the 28 km Two Bays run on the Mornington Penninsula south of Melbourne, in January next year.
