In 2009 (I think) the Lonely Planet declared the Bay of Fires the best place on earth (or something like that). I must have noticed and have wanted to visit ever since (I wanna go a lot of places though, so the criteria for getting on my ‘must visit’ list is not too high). Lonely Planet wasn’t too far off the mark I don’t think, although there is an awful lot of world I haven’t seen so I am not really qualified yet to either confirm or deny their opinion! Made you look you dirty chook!
That’s it, it’s war! I peeked my head around a rock, caught Oliver’s eye and then with every muscle straining I screwed my face into the most grotesque look I could muster. Oliver looked away, but he knew I had him. Not even he could deny he had caught my dirty look. Now he was out for revenge, but I assiduously averted my eyes, determined not to catch a return look. So passed a gorgeous 7 km stroll along the beaches of Mt William National Park, ducking and weaving in and out of orange lichen covered boulders, strewn as they are amongst the white sandy shores. Still finding our groove.
So we’re on the road again, but we are still finding our groove. The addition of homeschooling in particular seems to be affecting the rhythm I recall from our last trip. We didn’t leave our camp here at Scottsdale in the Tassie’s Northeast until after 12.00 today. It took until that time for breakfast to be eaten, the dishes to be done, for Emma and I to work out what was to be taught for the day and then to actually go teach it.
It’s still early days for us on the homeschooling front. Emma, fortunately has done lots of reading and gathering of curricula and other necessary material. I, while educated to a higher level than Year 3 am rapidly learning that teaching Year levels 2 and 3 involves far more than knowledge of what you actually learn in Years 2 and 3.
